Overview and Benefits

Cooperative education and internships are academic programs in which students apply classroom theory in major- or career-related, professional work environments.  Students enrolled in a co-op or internship will be assigned a faculty member who will guide their learning through the use of learning objectives, worksite visits, and reflective assignments, as well as a supervisor at the worksite who will guide their professional activities.  Students may opt to work part-time (typically 20 hours per week) or full-time (alternating semesters in the case of co-op).  Most positions are located off-campus, and all co-op students are paid a competitive wage.  Some students may be eligible for course credit and should check with their academic advisor to see if this is a possibility.
